Christmas Eve Dinner Concert at Tacoma Rescue Mission New Life Square

What a wonderful pleasure it was to minister in song at The Tacoma Rescue Mission New Life Square Christmas Eve Dinner.  I decided to get there early and was glad I did because I got a special treat when I heard the wonderful voices of Dylan & Dulcinea Hatch.

From what I understand Dulcinea is 14 and her brother Dylan is 18.  I'm looking forward to sharing the stage and ministry with them throughout 2010.

I was scheduled to sing at 5pm but the next artist after Dylan and Dulcinea was running late so I went up at 4pm.  The only glitch was breaking a guitar string during the sound check.

 

 

During the time I was there I counted 3 rotations of dinners being served and each rotation served about 100 people.

John, a great friend who comes to many of my gigs to help out, took about 20 pictures but our digital camera appears to be on it's last leg and only these 4 came out.  Time to upgrade and get a new camera.

Chuck and Linda Worthy of Worthy Music Ministries shared in song between sets and added their wonderful talent to make the evening complete.  Sorry, but the pictures taken of them didn't come out.  Check my calender below for the next up coming events I have scheduled with Worthy Music Ministries and come out and see some truly wonderful talent.

Christmas Eve 2009 Update

Saturday December 19th I once again had the pleasure of singing at "Solid Rock Cafe" in Port Orchard, WA.

My wife is in charge of taking pictures so what does she do?  She takes a picture of me tuning my guitar.  I can tune a fish better than I can my guitar.  I started the evening with many of my favorite songs and new ones I'm recording for my up coming CD "I'm Not Dead Yet".  Because our car was having some major problems I let Roxanne know that I might not make it that evening.  She wisely booked someone who could fill in just in case I couldn't make it, but still prayed for a miracle that we could get our car fixed.  And guess what a miracle did happen.  I mean the out of the blue, blow you away kind.

So when we showed up Roxanne told me about the singer she booked in case I couldn't make it.  She seemed a bit worried that I'd be hurt, but I totally understood.  Then she explained that she didn't have the heart to cancel her showing up and asked if I'd mind sharing the stage that evening.  I love sharing the stage.  So, let me introduce to you Tammy Raye.  Tammy Raye is a wonderful Folk singer who did a great job sharing her talent with us that evening.

I did a set, then Tammy did a set and then we both sang Christmas songs.  I think we had just finished a song when this picture was taken.  We had fun and so did everyone there.

I took the picture below of the fountain area in the Cafe.  At the time I didn't realize I was getting back of Roxanne's head.

Finally,  here's a picture of Terry.  Terry does a great job doing the sound at "Solid Rock Cafe".  He's not sleeping, he's enjoying Tammy Raye singing.

Today is December 23rd and tomorrow is Christmas Eve.  Tomorrow I'll be ministering in song at the Tacoma Rescue Mission Christmas Eve Dinner with Worthy Music Ministries.  If you want to stop by I'm on at 5pm.

I'll be announcing some exciting news in store for Corelli Music Group in 2010 but with the Holidays and all the things I need to do I don't have a lot of time right now to go through it all.  My wife, Liv, has been visiting her kids in Bremerton, WA since yesterday and I won't be joining her until Christmas morning.  I just wanted to tell her I miss her so much.

Solid Rock Cafe Concert - Port Orchard, WA

I sang at Solid Rock Cafe in Port Orchard tonight and what a wonderful place.  Roxanne Harper, the owner of Solid Rock Cafe, was a wonderful host and was very inviting.  She shared with my wife and I that every Sunday they sponsor meals for the hungry.  Both my wife and I can't wait till we go back.

Monroe Special Offenders Unit

Sunday I had the awesome pleasure of ministering to inmates at the Special Offender Unit in Monroe.  It was a very intimate setting with 6 men, my wife "Liv" and Peyton Burkhart with Prisoners for Christ Ministries.  There was no PA system and for the first time in years I sang without a mic.  I wasn't sure how load my voice would be so I projected as good as I could for someone coming down with a soar throat.  Still, they seemed to enjoy the songs with their favorites being "I'm not dead yet", "Kingdom of Grace" and "Happy Birthday Jesus".

Jammer's Jammin' Java & Gourmet Sandwich Shop

I sang at Jammer's Saturday night and what a place.  Mike Pond was installing a brand new flat screen TV that was donated when we showed up and it really adds to the excitement of the place.

Yea that's me with glasses.  I debuted a few songs that I haven't committed to memory yet but no one seemed to mind.

Thanks Mike and Amy!  You have a great place for people to show up at and enjoy each others company, music and Christ!

It's been a long time since I've had professional pictures taken.  Over the years I've used pictures from friends, family and TV appearances for different web site and posters.  However, those pictures have not always been creative, let alone high quality.

I've known Charles since 98' through his music ministry "A Higher Call to Artists".  Charles is a gifted Christian ASCAP songwriter and singer, yet as if that weren't enough, he is also a gifted Photographer too.  Last week we went to about 10 locations throughout Tacoma and Charles took over 200 pictures that are, to say the least, fantastic.

So, thanks again Charles for the time you took to take all those pictures and in addition use your creative eye to make this mug of mine look better than I thought it could.

I'll be singing at Jammer's this Saturday October 10th @ 7:30pm.  This will be about a 2 hour concert.  They've not only got the best sandwiches I've ever had, with prices that can't be beat, but also a pool tabe, espresso and much more. 

I'll also be singing in Monroe at the MSO unit on Sunday through Prisoners for Christ Ministries.

Jammer's Jammin' Java Coffeehouse

There's a new place in town for Christian Singers/Songwriters/Bands to express their gift of song.  It's located in Lakewood and the address is 11011 Bridgeport Way SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.  It's owned and operated by Mike Pond and I can't say enough about the place.

On Wednesday September 30th my wife and I went in to check the place out and we were warmly greeted by  the young woman working there.  They serve sandwiches, coffee, soda along with other items on their menu and are just recently opened their doors.  The prices are very good and all of them are hand written with little money going to advertising.  Later that same evening I went in after our church Worship Team practice and visited for about a half hour.  They were very inviting and offered a warm welcome to Jammer's on behalf of Christ and the Cross.

The area has long needed a Christian Coffee house of this kind and it's very important that we as a community of Christians help support them.  When ever you're in the neighborhood and you hear your stomach grown go into Jammer's and satisfy that hunger.  You have to eat right, so why not eat there?

They not only support Live Christian Music but do so throughout the week.  Here's their schedule for Christian music.;

**Monday - Country/Bluegrass open jam session 7pm to 10pm

** Tuesday - Open Mic Night 7pm to 10pm

Wednesday - Praise/Worship Open Mic 7pm to 10pm

Twin Rivers Unit September 13, 2009

Here is the Welcome sign as you enter Monroe. The first few times I ministered in music at Twin Rivers I drove right by the entrance and sign (below). It's not like they want the sign to boldly announce, "Hey, there's a Prison over here!"

I was reminded how confusing it can be when I walked through the door (picture below) and saw to my left 3 Prisoners for Christ volunteers. One of them was hugging his guitar and the other two their Bibles. I introduced myself and quickly surmised they were in the wrong Unit. They had thick accents and were so excited as they told me it was their first time ministering through Prisoners for Christ.

About ten minutes later 3 more Prisoners for Christ team members showed up and now I knew the others were in the wrong Unit. They were supposed to be at MSU, the Minimum Security Unit on the other side of the Facility. We still had time before we had to go through the check in so I drove my fellow (lost) PFC volunteers over to MSU. As I left MSU I could only pray they were allowed into the unit in time.

From the moment I first stepped in front of the Mic to the last guitar note of the last song I sang the inmates at Twin Rivers were inviting and responsive. I was able to finally share with them a new song I wrote called "I saw Jesus walk on water". It's special to me and to this unit because the song title originated at Twin Rivers. About a year ago an inmate shouted the title out after I asked if anyone had a song title in mind for a song I could write on the spot. I wrote the first verse that evening as I sang it and finished the song a few months later.

The men at Twin Rivers, as in the other facilities I sing at, warmly come up to me and shake my hand and tell me how much a song or many songs spoke right to their heart. As a songwriter I sit down and write out a song that comes to me but many times I rarely know how, or if, it says something special to a listener. Through my ministry with Prisoners for Christ I have been able to see and hear first hand from people, that, what God has allowed me to write and sing actually says and means something to others and that the message is getting through to the lost and the saved.

This Sunday I'll be ministering to the inmates at Twin Rivers Unit in Monroe, Washington. I always look forward to ministering through music to all the institution Prisoners for Christ sends me to. I'm looking forward to debuting some new songs "I'm not dead yet" and "I saw Jesus walk on water".

Jerry Corelli & MERGE

Saturday, the 29th of August, I had the pleasure & privilege of sharing an evening concert with the Praise & Worship band MERGE. Most of the email I received from those who attended used words like "Awesome Concert" or "Awesome Ministry" when describing Merge, myself and the evening in general.

For me, it was "Awesome" to share with those who came up to me later and expressed how something that was said or how a song that was shared touched their heart.

We also recorded the evening for a possible "Live" CD, which we did, and now I have to mix it and see what we have. We also planned on taking pictures but in the end there was a problem with the camera that was used so no pictures came from the concert.

Pastor Noel Villarivera asked me afterward if we could do another concert around Christmas time so look forward for the date and time on that one.

The Gathering of the Church 2009

Well to start off with it was an absolutely glorious and beautiful day. The sun was shinning and there was a gentle breeze. It was my first time at Magnuson Park in Seattle and the stage was in a perfect location. We didn't think of bringing any chairs to sit on and the closest place to sit, besides the ground, was about 200 yards away on a bench. You couldn't see the people on the stage that well but the distance seemed to mix the sound perfectly. I started out with a melody of "Come to Praise the Lord" & "This little Light of Mine".

I then did my own rendition of "Amazing Grace".

I didn't know at the time but Brent Rakestraw & Bob Jorgenson of God's Truck, the sound stage you see in the picture, were recording the event and gave me a copy before we had to take off. They did a great job recording and left the mix dry so when I got home I put a little mix to it for ambiance. I was the first to take the stage at around 1:15 and did a 30 minute set and was able to debut two songs going on my next CD. The first was "I saw Jesus walk on water".

I really enjoyed the no non-sense sermon pastor DJ Rabe from The House Lake Stevens gave. He's a very gifted speaker and used props that helped drive home his message of being a hypocrite in the Church.
